Are You Unintentionally Sabotaging Your Diet Plan?

By John Coppock

We all know that one of the best foods for our diets are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats. These foods fill us with protein and energy. They help our bodies remain balanced without infusing a variety of calories that we will have to work extra hard to burn off at the gym. Are you aware, however, that a number of the foods you've been thinking are good for your diet could actually be making you retain weight? They could even be making you gain extra fat! Here are several foods that you might be consuming which are hurting your efforts to lose weight.

Sports Drinks aren't aiding you whatsoever. You've likely been thinking that the sports drink is the proper way to help your whole body feel better after a workout. Many doctors agree, though, that if your training is less than ninety minutes, water is a fine way to do this. Sports drinks could completely weaken your diet plan because they are filled to the brim with sugar, empty calories and artificial colors and flavors. Try sipping some chocolate milk as an alternative. The sugar in chocolate will help your muscles start to mend themselves and the calcium in the milk will strengthen your bones.

Protein Shakes are not your friend. Lots of people think that protein shakes can be utilized instead of meals and to curb cravings between meals. The truth of the matter is that when you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake does is overburden your system with protein. Contrary to popular opinion, protein doesn't get stored as muscle, it gets stored as fat. This means that if you have already taken in too much protein that day, your whole body will basically store what it doesn't need in your fat cells and that doesn't help you lose weight or inches of your waist line at all.

Pre-packaged deli meat isn't nearly as healthy as you might think it is. It's generally believed that a sandwich constructed of whole grain bread as well as lean pre-packaged deli meat is a pretty good lunch time item. The real truth is that pre-packaged deli meat has a massive amount preservatives and definately will provide you with about a third of your recommended sodium intake for the day. This is going to be specifically unsafe if you are at risk of contracting heart disease. Instead of getting the pre-packaged stuff, you need to instead use home cooked poultry or freshly sliced meat from your grocery store's deli counter. Sure these are extra expensive options but they are rather a lot healthier for you.

There are lots of things that we believe are healthier than others like choosing a whole wheat bagel each morning when the truth is that a bowl of cinnamon sprinkled oatmeal is a much healthier choice. Ask your physician which items are the finest to eat and then follow the directions you are given. If you are mindful about what you take in and treat your body well, losing weight should not be that big of an issue for you!
